Fulfilling wishes, celebrating lives

Ambulance Wish Western Australia is a 100% volunteer-run registered charity dedicated to fulfilling the final wishes of people living with a life-limiting illness. Inspired by the belief that dignity, compassion and choice matter at every stage of life, we help create meaningful moments when they are needed most.

The charity was founded following the death of a close friend whose final wish could not be fulfilled. From that loss came a determination to ensure others would not miss the chance to experience a final moment of joy, connection, or peace. That commitment became Ambulance Wish Western Australia.

The Final Wish Programme was officially launched on 28 October 2021, bringing together volunteer clinicians and community members who generously give their time, skills, and compassion. Our wishes are carried out using specially equipped Wish Ambulances, ensuring wish recipients can travel safely and comfortably, with clinical care provided throughout. Every wish is planned with sensitivity and respect, centred on the individual and their family.

At Ambulance Wish WA, we believe a final wish is more than a journey – it’s a lasting memory, a moment of peace, and a powerful reminder of what truly matters.

Fulfilling final wishes

Ambulance Wish Western Australia’s mission is to give people in end-of-life care the resources, specialist transport and medical care they need to fulfil their final wishes, at no cost to the Wish Recipient or their family.
When time matters most, we help people living with a life-limiting illness experience a final wish that reflects who they are. A moment, a memory, a final wish - made possible with care and compassion.

wish

What would be your last wish?

Would you want to feel the wind on your face while watching the waves crash onto the beach; watch the birds soar above the hills; or the sunlight shining through the trees and shimmering on the river?

Would you prefer to say goodbye to the family pet; attend your daughter’s wedding; or say hello to your sibling or new-born grandchild?

Have one last day at home with mum and dad, visit the art gallery, zoo or rugby; have a beer with your mates; or visit your husband’s grave one last time?

Dependent on donations

All Ambulance Wishes are FREE, however, the volume of wishes that can be fulfilled is dependent on donations and fundraising.

Ambulance Wish Western Australia receives no Government grants or funding and is completely dependent on corporate partnerships, donations and community fundraising to ensure its outcomes are achieved.

Every dollar helps us fulfil final wishes. We run entirely on charitable donations and are managed by volunteers. All donations go to running Ambulance Wish Western Australia and fulfilling last wishes. To be able to continue, expand and improve the final wish programme we require continued funding.

All donations of $2 and over are tax deductible in Australia.

Ambulance Wish Western Australia Inc. is registered with the Australian Taxation Office as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR). Charitable Fundraising Licence No CC22633.

Volunteer with us

At Ambulance Wish Western Australia, our volunteers are the heart of everything we do. Every wish we fulfil is made possible by compassionate people who generously give their time, skills, and care to help create lasting memories for those at the end of life.

As a 100% volunteer organisation, we rely on dedicated individuals from across the community to help bring final wishes to life. Whether you’re a healthcare professional, driver, administrator, or simply someone who wants to make a difference, there is a place for you on our team.

Volunteering with Ambulance Wish WA is a unique and deeply rewarding experience. Our volunteers often tell us that supporting a wish is one of the most meaningful things they have ever done. You’ll be part of a supportive, respectful team working together to provide comfort, dignity, and joy during life’s most important moments.

At Ambulance Wish Western Australia, every wish we deliver is made possible by the kindness of our community. Our dedicated volunteers give their time freely, but each wish still carries real costs — from specialised vehicle operations and clinical equipment to fuel, coordination and planning.

A donation of $2,000 can fund an entire wish journey, giving someone nearing the end of life the opportunity to experience a meaningful final moment with the people and places they love.

By gifting a wish, individuals, families, businesses, and community groups can directly sponsor a final wish and help create a memory that will be cherished forever.
