Recently, Mr J was able to leave his hospital bed at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and travel to Wagin — the place where his life began.
For Mr J, of Aboriginal descent, the opportunity to return and touch Country one last time was deeply meaningful. Being back on the land that shaped his story brought comfort, connection, and a moment of peace surrounded by family.
This special wish was made possible thanks to our incredible volunteers, Chuck and Louise, who supported Mr J and his loved ones every step of the journey.
At Ambulance Wish Western Australia, we help terminally ill West Australians fulfil their final wishes — whether it’s attending a family milestone, revisiting a place filled with lifelong memories, or sharing one last meaningful moment with the people they love most.
Every wish we fulfil reminds us that compassionate care does not end when treatment stops. These moments create comfort, dignity, and lasting memories for families during life’s most difficult time.
Importantly, our service is provided completely free of charge to wish recipients and their families. Every journey is made possible through the generosity of donors and the dedication of volunteers who give their time and expertise.
If you would like to help create more moments like Mr J’s, please consider supporting our work. Your donation helps turn a final wish into a memory that families will carry with them forever.
